Santhi Mandiram, a charitable institution based at Nedumangad in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala came into existence on 19 th January 2003. It is a non-political and secular organization started with an aim to rehabilitate the lunatics and the homeless who have nowhere to go ,and roaming the streets of Kerala without food or shelter. On rehabilitation they are given initial treatment and counseling and many of them are able to remember their names and the circumstances which forced them to flee their homes.

This institution is being run at rented premises. Today Santhi Mandiram has 64 inmates from different states. It is indeed a piquant situation that some of the inmates who are fully cured of their illness don't want to go back, because of the stigma attached to them by the evil society. Nevertheless 14 inmates were taken back their homes by the relatives.
